Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it is important for students to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them.
Having children learn coding at a young age prepares them for the future. Coding helps children with communication, creativity, mathematics, writing, and confidence. In week 2 of Sophia Camp the younger age group will be doing a course on Scratch, whilst the older children will be looking at developing their Python coding skills.
So, join us on our whistle-stop tour and investigate why Scratch and Python have become such important computer languages to study.
Science
The very basis of science is a system of thought and experiment called the scientific method. These important thinking skills can be applied in many areas of study.
To give a child practice with these thinking skills, is like giving vitamins to a developing mind. Science feeds a natural love for learning. In this way, science is one of the most important subjects that students will study, because it gives them the critical thinking skills they need in every subject.

By the end of the course your child will be able to safely use YouTube, enhance their presentation skills and create their own family friendly YouTube video!
