Led by Head of Department and Qualified teacher of English, Ellen Brown, she will show you a step by step guide on how to explore your creative writing and where to begin when writing your book!

Ellen will guide you with where to find your brilliant ideas. Then each week, you will work through how to plan and write your bestseller! Every great writer needs to create characters, paint powerful descriptions and build suspense to keep their audience hooked. So, each week Ellen will be sharing the secrets to success, showing you how to write your brilliant book!

Meet Ellen!

I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Southampton and hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Secondary English Teaching from the University of the West of England. I am a fully qualified English teacher with five years of experience teaching in secondary schools across London. I currently hold a position in middle leadership, and am responsible for ensuring the quality of English teaching and for leading whole school training sessions to develop other teachers. As a Lead Practitioner for English, it is my responsibility to stay up to date with teaching and learning pedagogy. I have received state of the art training on how to improve students' literacy and vocabulary skills. I have helped students prepare for a range of examinations across English Language and Literature and I am a GCSE exam board marker and have received high commendations for the quality of my student's A-level coursework year after year.

I believe every child has the potential to be successful in life and make a positive contribution to the society they live in. This can only be achieved if they are empowered to be confident, independent and lifelong learners. As a tutor, I like to create a bespoke programme based around the individual needs of her learners. To begin with I will identify the gaps within their knowledge and their areas for improvement and then focus my activities and teaching in order to best suit their requirements. I like to use a range of engaging and interactive activities interspersed with quality testing so that students are able to see their rapid progress.

I am an avid reader and theatre goer. I enjoy travel, music and socialising with friends.
