Tom has a first-class Bachelor’s degree in English and a Masters in philosophy from Sussex University. Previously he worked in finance and technology (including for a time in South America). He has a highly diverse knowledge base and experience. Now, he tutors English and philosophy, in preparation for a forthcoming PhD, as well as write and produce for film and television.
Tom works closely with tutees to develop a personalised learning plan. As well as considering the desired outcomes and specific goals, he believes it is hugely important to encourage and structure the principles of learning.
Tom’s hobbies include reading anything and everything from Proust to Plato to PG Wodehouse, consuming films, cryptic crosswords and brainteasers, going to the opera and ballet, riding, and walking with his utterly wonderful Chocolate Labrador, Bruce. Tom speaks Spanish, with some basic French and Latin.
