Thomas is a highly qualified academic tutor and lifelong learner, holding an MSc in social policy and planning merit from LSE and a BA in philosophy, politics and economics; where he achieved a 2:1 from the University of Oxford. He is currently studying for his PGDE in science with UCL in order to qualify as a Teacher with QTS. Thomas has experience in tutoring students studying secondary science at GCSE and A Level and also supporting A Level politics. His academic experience and background make him an excellent tutor for students seeking Oxbridge entrance and foundation/undergraduate students requiring mentoring and support in his specialist subject areas.
Thomas’ personal approach to tuition revolves around allowing his pupils to discover the knowledge for themselves. He is there to provide scaffolding for pupils, so they can develop their own knowledge and confidence. He also believes that getting students to develop their underlying skills is the most important aspect of learning, as this will be applicable in many areas – not only their education, but also in their lives.
Thomas is a keen sportsman and plays rugby and cricket as regularly as he can. He is also a keen quizzer and prides himself on retaining a lot of useless information, which one day may appear on ‘The Chase’. Reading is also one of his greatest passions and one of his pet projects, at the moment, is trying to read history books about every country in the world.
