Sophie is a fully qualified primary teacher. She undertook her PGCE with Teach First back in 2015. Since then, alongside her teaching, she has tutored children both in and out of school for a range of purposes – such as SATS, 11+ and independent schools entrance examinations. She has taught the full breadth of years from Yr1 through to Yr6, but the majority of her experience has been in KS2. Before teaching, Sophie was awarded a BA (hons) classical civilisation degree from the University of Warwick. She is currently a curriculum leader at her school, and is also currently the art and music curriculum leader – she has always had a love of the arts. Previously she was also the history, geography and RE curriculum leader.
Sophie’s classes have always included a high percentage of children with additional needs; she prides herself in always taking the time and effort, whether for her school class or her tutees, to make her lessons meet the needs of each individual child. She has very high expectations for her students, but she also firmly believes that learning should be fun!
In her spare time Sophie loves to be active; you’ll find her out running, at a yoga class or up a climbing wall. She is also very creative and loves brushing up on her art skills at home, before sharing them in the classroom. She is also passionate about languages, and is currently learning Spanish.
