Peter has a PGCE in Secondary English from Goldsmiths University and he also has a BA in English Literature and a MA in arts and heritage management, both from the University of Sheffield. He has taught in London secondary schools and has regularly provided one-to-one tutoring to several students.
Initially, Peter looks to understand a student’s current strengths across all the disciplines of English study and, through doing so, identifies areas to focus on. He will use a range of activities to get to know a student and the approach to learning that works best for them. Using texts from the taught syllabus, alongside a combination of classic and contemporary literature, Peter will create a bespoke tuition plan that ensures stimulating and engaging sessions with clear learning objectives. He believes the key is to complement the work done at school, so they will use lesson notes and homework as the basis of deeper and more detailed study. Whether the focus is on specific exams or assignments, or the subject more generally, he will tailor each student’s experience to best suit their needs.
In his spare time Peter likes to read and also write short stories. He enjoys live music and playing drums in a band; he plays live across London. He is a keen swimmer and runner and hopes to do another marathon in the future.
