Oxford University student (with a passion for horses), completing her Masters in molecular and cellular biochemistry, offering biology, chemistry and mathematics up to A’Level.
Merlyn is a second-year undergraduate at the University of Oxford studying for a masters in molecular and cellular biochemistry. She gained 3 A*s and an A at A level in Mathematics, biology, further maths and chemistry, respectively. Whilst she was at school, she helped organise a mentoring programme for the younger students. As part of this programme she mentored GCSE students in mathematics in preparation for their exams. Meryln can also offer support for Oxbridge applicants looking to apply for science subjects, including interview preparation.
Meryln aims to tailor her tuition to the individual, based on any academic or non-academic areas of concern they may have. She offers sessions that work to consolidate topics learnt at school, looking at questions in a different way (for example, from other exam boards) to ensure full understanding of the topic and to better their exam technique. She seeks to establish greater self-confidence in her students and, depending on the individual, better organisational skills.
Outside of her degree Merylyn’s main interest is dressage. She represented Great Britain three times in 2017 and 2018 and continues to compete at a high level regularly on the national circuit. She also has a passion for music; she plays the drums and piano and was part of a Jazz band at school. At university, she is part of the Polo Club, of which she is the secretary.
