David holds an Honours Degree in biological sciences and, following a career in the military, has been teaching for almost ten years. He holds two post graduate qualifications; a Post Graduate Certificate Education in secondary science and the National Award for Middle Leaders. David is currently a senior leader at a secondary school who teaches biology, chemistry and physics for ages 11-16 up to (GCSE) and biology to A level. David is an expert in the AQA GCSE specification and has extensive knowledge of the new 9-1 grading system.
David’s personal approach is to work in partnership with his students. He believes that they achieve their potential by building strong professional relationships. He creates an environment that feels relaxed and fun, but is still focused. on learning. Through conversation and questioning, students are assessed – so rapid progress takes place. His students have said that they always learn something from his lessons and that they love the way he is able to explain things, so they understand them. During each lesson he uses real world examples that link different topics together, so students can gain a real depth of understanding. Throughout the journey, both student and parent, are kept informed about progress and how to move forward. David has been a tutor for the last four years and secured top grades for students who were struggling. 2019 was a big success for David, as all of his students secured at least a level 6 at GCSE in all three sciences.
David loves rugby and is part of the London Touch Rugby Association. He is a movie fanatic: from tearjerkers to horror movies and everything in between. David is famed for his ability to quote a movie line and his favourite TV program is The Big Bang Theory. David is Ex-Armed forces and has established a Combined Cadet Force (Army Section) at his current school, giving students the opportunity to have different experiences.
