Anna has a bachelor’s degree in primary education and has taught for six years. She has taught Year 2 through to Year 6. She has worked as a teacher in Australia for four years and has worked a further two years in London. She has tutored children to help them with support across the curriculum and has also been asked for extension work.
Anna likes to start off the session by asking the student how their day was and other questions about themselves. This helps to break the ice and is a good way of getting to the student. She then moves onto warm up games, related to what they will be working on. She also makes sure they have small brain-breaks through the session. Anna thinks lot of positive feedback is important and a small reward at the end, when appropriate, encourages the child to work harder. She tends to leave a small amount of homework to be completed before the next session, depending on the wishes of the parents. Fun, support and challenge are three things Anna includes in her tuition.
Anna’s hobbies and interests include: surfing, art, the environment, wildlife and travelling. She is a freelance illustrator on the side and tends to enjoy drawing cartoons.
